Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Volunteer and Mentorship Center
Through a challenge grant to other businesses, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation made the creation of a Volunteer and Mentorship Center possible for the students of the L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. The center engages with area high schools to provide learning opportunities for underserved youth. The schools the center targets have a focus on hospitality, tourism, culinary arts, and/or event planning curricula. Programs shape responsible citizens through life changing experiential teaching and learning opportunities and inspire active engagement with the social and economic development of San Diego.
Some of the activities of the Volunteer and Mentorship Center include:
- One-on- one mentoring of high school students
- Collaborative volunteer opportunity coordination
- Annual one-day educational conference managed and produced by the center
- Campus tours at San Diego State University
- A speaker’s bureau of Payne School students and industry professionals
- Assistance with scholarship opportunities
- Management of a website of resources for high school students
A very special thank you to the following industry partners who invested impactfully in the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Volunteer and Mentorship Center. Your support makes a difference in the lives of students throughout our region and will exponentially impact the hospitality industry for future generations.
