About Tom Sayer

Tom Sayer teaches HTM 250 and is an attorney in private practice and serves as General Counsel to several real estate, hotel and travel marketing companies. Representation has included handling hundreds of commercial transactions involving, among other things, real estate acquisitions totaling in excess of $4.5 billion, as well as overseeing numerous lawsuits in the areas of real estate, bankruptcy, employment and commercial law. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from California Western School of Law in 1985 and his undergraduate degree in Hotel Administration from Cornell University in 1981.

Mr. Sayer is a member of the California State Bar, is authorized to practice before all federal courts in the State of California and has appeared before most of the trial and appellate courts in the state, including the California Supreme Court. He is a member of the American and San Diego County Bar Associations and has served as Chair of the Commercial Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association. He sits on the Board of SDH-MA as its General Counsel, has served on the Governmental Affairs Committee of CHLA, served as Chairman of Accessible San Diego, has served as the President of the San Diego Chapter of the Cornell Society of Hotelmen and currently teaches the Hospitality Law & Policy course at San Diego State University. He also has served as President, Secretary, Treasurer and Director of the San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club and is currently President of the SDDB Rotary Club Foundation.
