The L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality & Tourism Management is passionate in providing international experiences for our students. Some students are required to participate in an international study abroad, internship or shorty study program in order to graduate.

Study abroad not only provides an excellent chance to experience a new culture, but also an opportunity to travel around a completely new region of the world.
We encourage our students to get out of their comfort zone and go overseas to learn with an international internship. Several companies offer SDSU students such opportunities. Recently students have worked in Tianjin & Beijing, China, Dubai, Fiji, UK and Australia. One student, Ms. Fatema Qassimar interned in sales at the Park Hyatt in Dubai.

Generally, these opportunities are very reasonable and in some cases free. Internships are paid or they include meals and lodging. In addition, generous scholarships are available to SDSU students to help defray the cost of international travel. Read more!
The L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality & Tourism Management is also providing students from other countries an opportunity to study in the US followed by a unique work experience. To date almost 200 students have participated in these programs. After one or two semesters of study students are able to participate in a paid internship at companies such as:
