Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Volunteer and Mentorship Center
The Mentorship Center’s aim is to provide "at-risk" students in the local area with mentoring programs and other activities to help guide them into various school and career roles. The high schools the Mentorship Center targets each have a focus on hospitality, tourism, culinary or event planning curricula. This ties in nicely with SDSU’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

High School Mentoring Programs
The School of Hospitality & Tourism Management works with many local high schools to help the high school students prepare for college and/or a job upon high school graduation. Due to a generous grant from the Hilton Foundation, HTM is able to provide resources to assist with such mentoring programs. Our coordinator, Candy Flynn, cflynn@mail.sdsu.edu is available to assist with a variety of mentoring opportunities. These can range from semester long formal programs as we have with Mt. Miguel High School and our National Society of Minorities’ student association, to ad hoc classroom speakers. HTM students can assist with classroom presentations and speak on a variety of subjects such as resume skills, networking, grooming tips, college preparedness (such as AVID) and scholarships.
