  3. Description of project
  4. Research Methodology
  5. Budget
  6. Timeline
  7. References

1. Title

The title of your proposal should be short, accurate, and clear. Don’t use acronyms and technical jargon as the reviewer(s) may not come from your technical specialty.

2. Abstract

It should be a brief (100 - 200 words), tightly worded summary of the project, objectives, the problem's significance, the scope of the project, the methods that will be employed, and the results that are expected. Be sure to write this section last so that its content indeed abstracts your proposal.

3. Description of Project

This section should include the following:

    • An overall description of the project
    • Introduce the primary researcher/research team
    • The project objectives
    • A literature review relevant to your proposed research efforts
    • The significance of the project (e.g., How does your study fit with regard to the current literature? Why should your project be done? Is your study new? Is it an extension? Does it address flaws in previous work?)
    • Practical implications of the research

4. Research Methodology

This section should outline your plan of attack. What kind of data will you collect (qualitative, quantitative, cases, etc.)?  What kind of statistical methods will you use?

5. Budget

The budget should identify the anticipated cost for everything (salary stipend, student research assistants, materials, travel costs, etc.) that will be required in order to accomplish the research project. Please justify why each item is needed in order to carry out the study.

6. Timeline

The timeline should define the total length of the project and provide a schedule of what tasks will be done by when.

7. References

Include any references you may have cited in the proposal.

8. Curriculum Vitae

Please attach a current curriculum vitae for each researcher involved in the study.

All proposals should be sent by email to:
