J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation Student Center for Professional Development

Through a generous gift from the  J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation, the School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at San Diego State University created the Student Center for Professional Development (SCPD).

The foundation provides funding to facilitate undergraduate hospitality students and alumni access to a wide range of professional development services. A partial list of the resources available to students and alumni is listed below:

The director of SDSU’s  J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation Student Center for Professional Development, Brian P. Blake, oversees the day-to-day operations of the Marriott Student Center for Professional Development, spending time with not only his students and alumni, but also the local hospitality businesses and high school community. The School of Hospitality & Tourism Management’s vision is to be "The most personalized school of its kind in developing hospitality leaders," says Blake.

In its goal of being the most personalized hospitality school, the director, along with other faculty and staff, make it their passion to meet individually with students to customize their learning experiences. No other hospitality degree offers such a personalized level of professional development and career advising. This is only possible due to the generous support of the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation.
